Abstract
The Northwest Michigan Regional Planning and Development Commission has been active in water quality problems for the past four years. In 1978 the Commission adopted a Regional Clean Water Plan. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has given conditional approval to that plan. In 1979 the Commission, working toward full approval, completed an evaluation of ground water problems, which identified Peninsula Township in Grand Traverse County as having an unusually high incidence of nitrate contamination. This report is a further investigation into that contamination.
