During August 1976, the Grand Traverse Area Data Center undertook a pilot beach use census. Three public beaches in Traverse City and one in Elmwood Township, Leelanau County, were surveyed. This survey provided day-user information valuable to the population model, also social characteristics and beach user attitudes. The findings presented in this report are the results of this survey.
