Abstract

The Three Lakes Association contracted the Institute to provide monthly sampling at three tributary stations and one lake station in Lake Bellaire. The sampling was done from May through December. Phosphorus samples were frozen and analyzed by the environmental laboratory of Prein and New h of. Phosphorus values for 1984 were similar to those found during 1982 - 83 and remain between the values for highly polluted water and nutrient poor water. BOD values for 1984 were also similar to those found during 1982 - 83. These values are very small and suggest that the oxygen depletion is probably caused by processes internal to the lake rather than by external organic loading. Lake Bellaire's conditions continue to indicate that it is a typical mesotrophic lake.
